Enhancing Accessibility and Style Within Your Bathroom

Growing old is inevitable, and if you are planning on staying in your house as you age, then it is prudent to remodel your bathroom, with accessibility as the main priority. The bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the house, and now going to the bathroom may not require so much effort, but as you grow older, aging curtails your mobility.

In addition, the bathroom is a wet zone, and there is a high probability that you will succumb to falls and slips in this room as you grow older, if you do not act now. NV Kitchen and Bath has come up with a few ideas on how to ensure that your bathroom is safe and accessible regardless of how old you get.

  1. Place a shower bench

As you grow older, you may not be able to stand for long in order to take a shower. A bench will help decrease the strain you place on your muscles and skeletal system when you shower. Furthermore, a bench will reduce the occurrences of falling and slipping in the shower, because you spend most of the time sitting down.

  1. Get a shower head you can hold

Alongside the shower bench, you should also look for a showerhead that you can hold. This will make it easier to shower as you sit on the bench. Majority of these handheld shower heads are height adjustable, which makes the entire experience of showering while sitting the more pleasant.

  1. Ask for grab bars

Moreover, you will need something to hold on to while you enter and exit the shower. Ask the NV Kitchen and Bath contractor to install grab bars at the exit/entrance of the shower to allow you to enter and exit with ease. In addition, the contractor should install these bars on the interior walls of the showers to make it easier for you to move around the shower.
